You are in for an extra special treat on this week’s edition of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, as we present our first-ever ALL GIRLS episode of PRODIGY! It’s the 14th Annual Georgia Youth Bowlers Tour (GYBT) Tournament of Champions. And today, we’re showcasing the U17 GIRLS division.

Of the five athletes you’ll see on today’s show, only one of them (the #5 qualifier) has appeared on PRODIGY before. So you’ll get to see some new faces! And they come from all over. We’ve got girls from three states on today’s show — Georgia, Tennessee and South Carolina.

They’re bowling for significant scholarship awards. But most importantly, today’s event marks the end to the GYBT season, as next month all these kids will be in Detroit at Junior Gold. GYBT holds monthly Junior Gold qualifiers throughout the year on the first Sunday of every month, starting in August and ending in May. Then on the first weekend in June, the GYBT Tournament of Champions is held to crown eight champions — one in each of 8 age and gender divisions — U12, U15, U17 and U20 Boys and Girls. Plus, the GYBT Bowler of the Year Awards are finalized.

In all, around $22-thousand in scholarship money is awarded through the GYBT TOC, and many of the young athletes who compete in GYBT events use the GYBT as a springboard to a career in collegiate bowling. The five girls you see on today’s show have consistently been among the best U17 GIRLS in the state of Georgia and throughout the southeast.

It is a thrill to bring you our first-ever ALL-GIRLS edition of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR, and I can think of no better place to do it than at the 2019 GYBT TOC.

To learn more about the Georgia Youth Bowlers Tour (GYBT), join their Facebook group. It’s called “Georgia YBT.” Also, on the first Sunday of every month (except July), you can follow along the progress of the event in real time at www.bowlmetrix.com.

As always, your comments are welcome. And as we say each week, we only ask that you keep those comments positive. Remember, the mission of PRODIGY BOWLERS TOUR is to “Celebrate Junior Bowling and to Elevate Junior Bowlers.” If all you have to offer is to diss these young ladies or criticize them without offering much in the way of positive help, then your comment(s) will be removed. But if you can be helpful without being hurtful, we welcome your comments.

Your play-by-play voice is USBC Silver Certified Coach and former PBA player Coach Randy Brown. Randy gives bowling lessons throughout the week when called upon.
